Chelsea manager claims deal not done yet

Alex would prefer a move to Brazil but has not ruled out EuropeAndre Villas-Boas has denied that a deal for defender Alex to join Queens Park Rangers is no where near complete yet as an asking price has to still to be met.

It had been suggested that Chelsea had accepted a bid from QPR for the wantaway stopper. Rangers had a first bid of £3million rejected earlier in the week, however they then increased the offer which they believed allowed them to discuss personal terms with the Brazilian.

However, a Chelsea spokesman said on Saturday afternoon after the 1-0 win over Sunderland: “I can say at this time there is no agreement between the clubs.”

Manager Andre Villas-Boas added: “I’m sure that the clubs can reach an agreement if they continue to push.
“We know Alex’s market value and we’re just not going to let him go quite easily, not that QPR’s offer is far, far off.

“He is a player that has attracted a lot of interest from Premier League clubs and from abroad.”

It is unclear if Alex will be willing to join QPR if a fee is agreed, as there have been reports that he may no longer want to remain in England.

French giants Paris St Germain and Italian club Juventus have also been linked with the player, who has been banished from Chelsea’s first-team squad after he submitted a transfer request.
