PSG prepared for drastic measures to capture Premier League star

Paris Saint Germain sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the club are tracking striker Carlos Tevez, but has admitted that the French club will have to “make sacrifices” in order to finalize the deal.

The Manchester City outcast is set to join the Ligue 1 club in the January transfer window, as they look to have won the battle with Italian clubs Inter Milan and Ac Milan, whom were both linked with a move for Tevez.

The Argentina international’s representatives held discussions with PSG earlier this week, although talks are believed to have broken down.

Tevez has been shown the door by boss Roberto Mancini, who is adamant that it would be ‘impossible’ for the former captain to play at City again following their bust-up during the away defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League in September.

The recruitment of new boss Carlo Ancelotti is what Leonardo believes is set to bring Tevez to the club, as he says the player is keen to work under the Italian, however he has admitted that personal terms could become an issue.

“Tevez has a great contract with Manchester City and it’s a difficult situation to deal with,” Leonardo told Le Parisien.
“If PSG has an opportunity, we will do [a deal] if it’s good for everyone.

He continued, “The transfer window is very difficult. Now you do not want to do foolish things. We want to do things well to protect the club, with players who want to come, who believe in the project.

“From that side, it’s good. He has a good relationship with Ancelotti. He really believes that here, we can do things. But after, there are contractual issues.

“It is true that with a player like Tevez, we know that we must make sacrifices.”
