Premier League duo in the hunt for Serbian starlet

Arsenal and Manchester United seem set to duke it out over the contract of Torino youngster, Alen Stevanovic, and will look to gain his signature with summer bids.

The 21 year-old has drawn decent interest over recent months with numerous European clubs thought to be chasing the midfielder.

Arsenal and United can take extra confidence however, after Stevanovic was reported as saying that he would favour a move to the Premier League as he looks to make it back into the Serbian international setup.

2010 brought the utility his first cap for the Serbian Under-21 side, however he has failed to improve upon this tally and will have his eyes set on the nations qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup.

Stevanovic is capable of playing in a variety of positions and can operate across the creative line as either an attacking midfielder or a winger.

Similar to his brief time with Serbia, Stevanovic had an equally short stint with Inter, who he finished his youth training with after transferring from Serbian team Radnički Obrenovac.

Stevanovic has made 26 starts for Torino this campaign scoring three goals and making four assists in the process.

Despite his relatively low numbers, the starlet has been key in the Serie B outfits rise to the top of the Italian table as they look to regain their spot in the country’s top flight.

Although the player wouldn’t be expected to walk into the starting XI of either Arsenal or Manchester United, both sides are known fans of buying young and shaping a player to their preference.

If speculation is to be believed, Nani could be leaving Old Trafford this summer and with Andrey Arshavin already on loan at Zenit St. Petersburg, the Gunners could see a few departures at the end of this season too, making room for a Stevanovic purchase.

The youngster wouldn’t be expected to cost more than £5m in a time where sides are looking to get the most out of their money before Financial Fair Play is put into effect.
