With Giovanni Trapattoni in charge, Ireland are likely to adopt an Italian style of football in the tournament, relying on a solid defence and hitting teams on the counter attack.

Trapattoni’s men are unbeaten in thirteen games, conceding just three goals, so they are in great shape going into this summer’s competition.

Veteran striker Robbie Keane will be the man many Irish fans are looking to too lead the team to success. The 31-year-old has scored 52 goals in 115 appearances, which makes him his national side’s all time leading scorer.

Trapattoni’s side lost just one game during the qualifying campaign too and they also managed a 0-0 draw away at Russia.

With not too much pressure on them, Ireland could be a surprise package in this tournament, especially if their experienced players step up to the plate.

Although it will be a massive task for them as they are going against teams that have some of the most talented players in world football.

Ireland will be looking to emulate Greece in 2004, who won the European Championships despite being massive outsiders. The Irish are being offered at 100/1 to lift the trophy.
