Arsene Wenger impressed with team spirit

Wenger is happy with his Arsenal side's current spiritArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hailed his team’s spirit in the dressing room after seeing his side climb back up the Premiership table with some notable wins.

In what was the worst start possible for Arsenal in which they suffered defeats at the hands of Liverpool at the Emirates and an away defeat to Blackburn where their defence was non existent, the side have now progressed to the point where a win this weekend against West Brom could result in Wenger’s side being fifth by the end of it.

Wenger admits that the team spirit within the squad has made him believe that the side would bounce back and that he has thoroughly enjoyed the last few weeks.

“I have enjoyed it very much because I have felt the spirit in the dressing room was good and that the team would do absolutely everything to get out of (our situation), it was tough because we didn’t win games but it was enjoyable because you could feel the core strength of the team was very positive.”

Wenger continued:

“However you never know in my job. It’s like being on a boat which goes across the world. You never know when the next storm will come.”

The Arsenal manager also adds that he felt the turning point came after the 8-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

“When we lost at Man United we had a break and then we played at home and won – just, the turning point was not to lose two or three games on the trot because after that it is like being in quicksand.”
