Barcelona Getafe Odds : Guardiola eyes Real Madrid as La Liga Title betting hots up
April 10, 2012 · 0 Comments
Barcelona will looking to close the gap on league leaders Real Madrid this evening when they host European Getafe at the Nou Camp, as punters begin to pile on Pep Guardiola’s side as Jose Mourinho stutters to the La Liga title.
Following Madrid’s 0-0 draw at home to Valencia at the weekend, the gap between the top two is now down to four points and with the two teams still to play each other, the title race looks set to go to the wire.
Barcelona certainly have momentum behind them too. The 4-1 win at Real Zaragoza on Saturday made it nine La Liga wins in succession and there is no doubt that Pep Guardolia’s men are determined to retain their title.
It wasn’t too long ago that it all looked done and dusted, but now the pressure is very much on Madrid. Who knows, by the time the two teams meet on the 21st April, they could be even closer to the current league leaders?
As for Getafe, they would love to dent Barcelona’s title hopes with a shock victory this evening. They can afford to relax too as there is no danger of them being dragged into anything like a relegation battle.

In fact, sitting in 10th position, they are only a point off a Europa League spot and this will be their aim for the remainder of the campaign – to secure European football.
Looking at their recent form, they have been reasonably solid with just one defeat in their last six games. Their most recent encounter on Saturday saw them beat Sporting Gijon 2-0 too, so they go into this one in good spirits.
As for the recent history between these two, Barcelona have won five of their last seven La Liga games against Getafe. However, when the two teams met earlier in the season, it was Getafe that secured a famous 1-0 win.
Whether they can repeat this and completed a remarkable double remains to be seen. Barcelona – who have the title in their sights still – will certainly be focused on three points.
This one gets underway at 8pm this evening.
