Barcelona Real Sociedad Odds: Guardiola desperate for win

Bet365 (Live Stream Available) Latest Odds: Barcelona 1/10, draw 12/1, Sociedad 28/1

Barcelona will be hoping to keep in touch with league leaders Real Madrid as they take on Real Sociedad on Saturday evening.

As things stand in La Liga, the reigning Champions are seven points adrift of Madrid in the race for the title, so they are without doubt second favourites to finish top of the tree.

Pep Guardiola’s men will not be giving up hope though. They need to make sure they keep winning games and capitalise should Madrid drop points.

Looking at Barcelona’s recent form, it has been uncharacteristically inconsistent. After dominating proceedings in Spain over the last couple of years, they have appeared slightly more vulnerable than many had come to expect.

The 0-0 draw at Villarreal most recently in La Liga was extremely frustrating for example and was their fifth draw away from home in the league this season. With just one defeat to their name – Madrid have lost twice – it is these draws that have cost them in the race for the title so far.

Their home form has been as impressive as ever though. They have dropped points just once – at home to Sevilla back in October – and scored an incredible 43 goals in 10 home league games this season.

As for Real Sociedad, well they will find it tough on Saturday evening, as does every team that travels to Barcelona. Their own form is decent enough though with only one defeat in their last nine games.

Sitting only four points above the relegation zone, they are very much looking over their shoulders right now, so every single match is crucial. Things are extremely tight at the bottom of La Liga and a poor run of form could see Sociedad dragged into serious trouble.

Looking at the recent history between these two teams, Barcelona have won their last 13 home league games against Sociedad. This is of course a run many expect them to continue on Saturday evening from 9pm, but who knows what could happen.
