Bayern Munich hitman attracting Premier League interest

After finding playing time increasingly harder to come by over recent months, Bayern Munich forward Ivica Olic could move away from the German giants, with Craven Cottage a possible destination.

The Croatian international is contracted to the Allianz Arena club until June, and isn’t expected to be offered a new deal with the club.

Olic made a bright start to his Munich career, scoring 19 goals in his debut season with Die Roten, and quickly becoming a fan favourite with supporters of the side.

However, his second season at the Allianz was hampered by a cartilage injury that caused him to miss the second half of the 2010-11 season.

Although Olic returned to action in June, it seems the striker hasn’t matched the high expectations he made after his debut season, falling down in the pecking order behind the likes of hot prospect Nils Pietersen, Thomas Muller and of course German superstar, Mario Gomez.

Fulham aren’t the first club to be sniffing around the 32 year-old’s signature however, with Blackburn Rovers earlier said to be considering an offer.

The Croatian may not hold the biggest prospect for the future due to his age, however his European and Bundesliga experience could provide some much needed firepower to one of the Premier League’s lowest scoring teams.

Cottagers manager, Martin Jol, has already worked with the Croatian during his stint at the helm of Hamburg SV and both partied may jump at the chance to work together once more, as Olic seeks out more first-team football.

It’s no doubt that the best days of Olic are behind him, but with over 150 career league goals to his name, the Bundesliga forward may be a snap at an estimated £4m.
