Fulham eyeing moves for Bundesliga pair

Reports have revealed that Fulham are likely to sign at least one Bundesliga forward this week after it emerged that both Lucas Barrios and Pavel Pogrebnyak were closing in on moves to the West London outfit.

However, of the two, Pogrebnyak is substantially closer to signing at Craven Cottage after it was announced that the Russian international was in a medical with the club.

The 28 year-old is out of contract in the summer and rather than lose him on a free transfer, the Stuttgart are looking to sell their charge for a reported fee of around £2.5m.

The Cottagers transfer window could improve significantly though if they were also to wrap up the £7m signature of Lucas Barrios.

The Paraguayan international has fallen out of favour at the Westfalenstadion and Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen on letting the hitman go this week.

Despite being hugely limited to substitute appearances this season, Barrios has been a key component in Borussia Dortmund’s side, scoring 30 goals in his past two seasons with the German outfit.

This makes the total fee to bring the duo to Fulham up to about £10m and could signal the departure of either Andy Johnson or Bobby Zamora.

Both Englishmen have been linked with moves away from the Premier League side this month and if Martin Jol were to add two more strikers to his frontline, space may need to be freed up.
