Saturday afternoon sees new league-leaders Lyon travel to champions Montpellier. Lyon had a fantastic 4-1 at Marseille on Wednesday evening, so will be full of confidence going into this one.

A hatrick from Bafetimbi Gomis ensured Remi Garde’s men secured top spot in Ligue 1 as they look to consildate, however Montpellier are now unbeaten in five though – which means this should be a cracking game.

There are then a number of evening kick-offs and Paris Saint Germain will be looking for only their second win in five when they travel to mid-table Nice.

Carlo Ancelotti’s big spending side have come a little unstuck in recent weeks, but the return of striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic from a suspension signalled a return to winning ways, with the Swede bagging a brace in the 4-0 win over Troyes.

Elsewhere, Lille take on Bastia and Reims make the journey to Valenciennes in what are likely to be two very competitive matches.

Evian’s three games unbeaten have seen them  move out of the bottom three and this weekend they take on bottom of the table Nancy, who themselves are without a defeat in two. This is one of the biggest games in Ligue 1 this time out.

Bordeaux are currently in fifth and will be expecting all three points at home to a Sochaux side in the relegation zone. A one goal defeat to Montpellier last week signalled the end of Francis Gillot’s side four game winning sequence, and this will be no walkover, with Eric Hely’s side already in a relegation scrap at the foot of the table.

There are then three games on Sunday afternoon and Marseille know they must bounce back from their 4-1 defeat with a win at Brest. They could find themselves out of the top four come kick-off.

Then, Troyes and Rennes go head to head and the former are currently seven points adrift from safety, so a result is a must in this one.

The final game in Ligue 1 this weekend sees Toulouse head to Lorient. The visitor’s are in seventh place and managed a win last time out after three straight defeats, so will hope they can start to move up the table again.

Bring on the action in this fantastic division.
