Liverpool enter race to sign Dutch hitman

Latest reports are suggesting that Liverpool are poised to become the latest club interested in his signature and are preparing a January bid for FC Twente forward, Luuk de Jong.
De Jong has been linked with several of Europe’s biggest sides following his exploits in the Eredivisie last year and a January move is very possible when considering the sides said to be interested.
Chelsea and Tottenham are two such clubs said to be debating over a move for the forward as well as a raft of Serie A sides hoping to take the sensation to Italy.
After making such a large impact over the 2010-11 campaign, the 21 year-old has improved once again this season and has scored ten goals in only 12 league appearances for Twente.
The youngster also made enough of an impact on a domestic level to earn his first international call-up in February 2011 and now has six caps to his name, including one goal.
Reds’ fans can be hopeful regarding the news also, after the player himself announced that he would be open to a move to the Premier League, calling it an ‘exciting competition’.
The forward is hopeful of acquiring a higher level of experience ahead of Euro 2012 if he is to improve his odds of selection; something a Premier League switch would certainly provide.
