Malaysian GP Odds : F1 Grand Prix back with Lewis Hamilton, Vettell and Jenson Button in frame

The second race of the 2012 Formula 1 season takes place this weekend with theGrand Prix from Malaysia on Sunday morning.

After a dramatic Australian Grand Prix last weekend – where Jenson Button secured victory in the opening race of the season – it is set to be another fascinating weekend in Malaysia.

Alongside Button on the podium last week was Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. There is no doubt that these three will look to be in contention for the victory once again.

Button would love to assert his dominance on the rest of the field, World Champion Vettel will be determined to get a win under his belt, while Hamilton will be hoping to put the disappointment of failing to capitalise on pole position behind him.

Other contenders include Vettel’s Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber, while Mercedes duo Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher will be after a positive weekend.

Slightly further adrift are Ferrari and their duo Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa. After finishing 5th and 17th last weekend, these two will be after significant improvement.

There are many who believe it is damage limitation for Ferrari this weekend though as they struggle to get the best out of their car. It will certainly be interesting to see how much fighting spirit they have and whether they can compete with McLaren and Red Bull.

Button is without doubt the man to beat though as he aims for a second successive Grand Prix win and speaking ahead of this weekend’s race, the McLaren man appears extremely relaxed.

The 32-year-old said: “We’ll be competitive, but you’ll see other teams up there as well. We got it all together at the weekend apart from a couple of things. When Red Bull get their act together – and a few others – they’ll be very competitive.”

Away from the leading teams and drivers, there is still plenty of other aspects to watch out for on Sunday as Kimi Raikkonen looks to build on last weekend’s 7th placed finish and Britain’s Paul Di Resta aims for another points finish.

The 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix gets underway at 9am on Sunday morning.
