Man City v Tottenham Odds : Punters pile into Spurs at value price

Its another Super Sunday of action as Paddy Power release a new free bets offer and the latest odds on Man City v Tottenham, Newcastle v West Ham and Chelsea v Liverpool.

Kicking off our Sunday coupon is Man City v Spurs, as the Citizens will be hoping to put European disappointment behind them this weekend when they host Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

Roberto Mancini’s men could only manage a draw at home to Ajax in the Champions League, meaning they have it all to do to qualify for the knockout stages. For the second year in succession, their form in Europe has been poor.

They haven’t exactly been flying domestically either. The results have been there – they haven’t lost in the Premier League yet and remain 34 games unbeaten at home – but the performances have been below par.

The 0-0 draw at West Ham last time out was disappointing too.

Going into this weekend, they are two points adrift of league leaders Manchester United and they don’t want this gap to get any bigger. They will take heart from the fact that they aren’t in the best form and still in touch with the top spot, but it is clear that defensively they are looking a little frail, and are missing the midfield guile of David Silva, who has been absent through injury the last month but could make a return today.

It would be very refreshing to see a complete performance this weekend though. The coaching staff, players and fans need a reminder of what this City team is capable of. Winning the game is the priority, but winning in style could have a positive affect over the next few weeks, and at a price of 8/13 the bookmakers have judged this one about right.

As for Tottenham, they have had a mixed time of it recently. They have lost two of their last three Premier League games, while they also crashed out of the Capital One Cup to Norwich.

With a win in Europe on Thursday though, they will go into this one in good spirits as Jermaine Defoe silenced his critics with a a hatrick. Sitting 6th in the table, they can be reasonably happy with life under Andre Villas-Boas, especially away from White Hart Lane as they go for their fourth successive away win – something they have not achieved in 20 years.

The highlight of the season was definitely the win at Manchester United and they would love to replicate this success on Sunday. Six points from two trips to Manchester would set down a marker of what this Tottenham team is capable of, and with Gareth Bale in the side they do have a a genuine world class player who can make a difference.

The Welshman scored in this fixture last season, and has found the net in each of the last two away trips, so his price of 12/1 to find the net first offers more than a hint of value.

The 5/1 on offer for the away win looks too big a price to miss out on considering the talent in this Spurs side and that price will surely attract plenty of attention from punters.

Moussa Dembele will still be missing in midfield as will Scott Parker and Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

This should certainly be an attractive game to watch as both teams look to attack from the start and play their football on the floor. With plenty of match winners on show, it could go either way too, even though City are the favourites.

It gets underway at 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
