Manchester City target Bundesliga Champion

Hummels has alerted the interest of Manchester CityWith one of the best defences in the Premiership so far this season one would have thought that Roberto Mancini would be happy with his current crop of defenders.

According to sources in Germany though the Italian tactician is not and is already lining up a summer move for Bundesliga Champion Mats Hummels of Borussia Dortmund. The 23 year old was integral last season for the side and has again been the reason for their steady return towards the top this season as Dortmund chase a second title in two years.

With Manchester City manager Mancini yet unsure whether he will still be manager next season it may be a little premature to be preparing offers for defenders however should the clubs form continue then surely he will be around for at least another season.

Dortmund are of course reluctant to sell however the Champions have found life at the top tough where trying to keep a low profile is concerned with links to many of their players coming about on a daily basis. Gotze is of course the one who has been most heavily linked over the past few months.

With Kompany and Lescott currently steady at the back, the arrival of Hummels would add strength to the squad however it could be another case of trying to keep players happy with so much quality within the side.

The former Bayern Munich centre-back could be available for anything upwards of £8m.
