Manchester United skipper misses Champions League opener

Premier League champions, Manchester United, will travel to Lisbon for their Champions League clash against Benfica, without Rio Ferdinand.

The Red Devils have had their share of defensive setbacks this season with Nemanja Vidic and Rafael also both missing the fixture due to injury.

The defender was injured in United’s Premier League opener against West Brom, however he did play a full game against Bolton on Saturday.

The current Premier League champions will be hoping to bring their domestic form into the European campaign, as they remain undefeated in the league.
