Tottenham considering Dutch international as striker alternative

Following a magnificent first half to the player’s season, Tottenham are weighing up a bid to sign FC Schalke 04 forward, Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

The 28 year-old has come upon astonishing form in the Bundesliga and looks to have found his groove after failing to impress during spells at Real Madrid and AC Milan.

This has led Harry Redknapp to enquire about his availability as the manager desperately seeks to add another forward to his attacking line before continuing what has been an already surprisingly good season.

Huntelaar has appeared for ‘The Miners’ on 27 occasions this season and scored 26 goals in the process earning an astounding goal ratio of nearly a goal per game.

Redknapp travelled to France earlier in the week to take a look at Marseille forward, Loic Remy, after news emerged that the club were looking at securing his signature in a £20m deal.

However, that deal is no longer expected to go through after the French international stated his intentions to remain in Ligue 1 for the foreseeable future and Spurs could turn their attention to Huntelaar.

The Dutchman, who is coming up on his 50th appearances for the Netherlands national side, has proven himself to be a predator in the box and if Tottenham should also secure the permanent signature of Emmanuel Adebayor, the pair could compliment each other tremendously.

Any deal taking Huntelaar would cost the North London outfit around £17.5m, as the German club look to keep hold of their star hitman.
