Tottenham readying bid for SPL maestro

Sources are reporting that Tottenham may be ready to make a January move for Celtic winger, James Forrest, after the youngster caught the eye of several Premier League outfits.

It’s known that the 20 year-old has been scouted by Spurs after Harry Redknapp sent representatives to take a look at the talent.

Forrest is keeping his feet firmly on the ground for now however, and refuses to let the Premier League attention go to his head.

Speaking to the BBC, Forrest said: “It is obviously good to hear, but it doesn’t bother me. The main thing is I want to keep playing well with Celtic.”

He went on to say: “I am not thinking about it. We’ve still got the second half of the season to go with Celtic. It is still early doors right now and all we need to do is hopefully keep our good run going and keep winning games.”

Forrest has made 33 appearances for Celtic this season, scoring eight goals and making five assists.

It’s this kind of form that led Craig Levein to select the wideman for the Scottish senior squad last year after he had spent the last three years ascending through the youth ranks of the side at Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

The Celtic star has since made four appearances for the Scots and it was revealed last month that he had been selected to appear in the 2012 Olympics playing for the Great Britain football team.

Despite his comments, it seems Redknapp remains keen to sign the starlet, who would command an asking price of around £3.5m.
