Why Arsenal can be triumphant over Barcelona

Wenger believes Arsenal can beat BarcelonaWenger believes that Arsenal is capable of beating Barcelona if the Gunners play to their strength and play their typical brand of attractive soccer. While we must all admire Wenger for his strong beliefs, victory is often more important than style and I don’t believe Arsenal is capable of beating Barcelona at its own game.

The football we have seen Arsenal play over the years has been breath-taking, the most attractive in the Premiership by far, but Barcelona can play it just as well, if not better. Looking at the last time these two met in the Champions League in 2010 where an inspired Lionel Messi helped Barcelona to a 4-1 victory over Arsenal after a 2-2 draw at the Emirates, Arsenal will have to up their game if they’re to gain the upper hand in this crucial game on Wednesday night.

Jack Wiltshire admits that Arsenal need to change their game if they want to beat Barcelona.
“This year we need to get in their faces and when we’ve got the ball, try to keep it.”

“We’ve got to change our game a bit to play against Barcelona. We’ll learn from last year. We need to be a bit nasty with them and get the ball back.”

“We have to press them as a team, there’s no point one of us going after them.”
At the heart of Arsenal’s midfield, a key cog in the figure of Samir Nasri may have a chance of featuring on Wednesday, after sitting on the sidelines with a hamstring injury the past few weeks. Nasri had scored 14 goals in all competitions this season and this has significantly raised hopes that Arsenal can topple the Spanish Giants. However, with the Carling Cup final against Birmingham approaching, Wenger cannot afford to lose any key players, and with so many other big games approaching, cannot afford to be stupid.
