QPR have suffered a setback after it was revealed that the rehabilitation of James Mackie was going to take longer than originally thought.
The striker, 25, was hoping to be back to match fitness for the start of the 2011/12 season. However, the broken leg which Mackie suffered in January is taking longer than expected to heal and it’s expected Mackie will now not be ready for and August 13th return.
QPR head physio Nigel Cox spoke to the club’s website, saying: “Jamie has been doing really well. He has worked very hard throughout the summer and has done everything he can to speed up the recovery process,”
According to Cox, there is nothing more Mackie could have done in the healing process, adding: “There is nothing Jamie could have done which would have helped to speed up the process, it is simply a case of waiting for the bone to heal.”
