Champions League Group H: Barcelona aim to heap more misery on AC Milan’s season

Barcelona are 8/13 favourites to defeat a slowly reformed AC Milan squad in Milan whilst Celtic look to pick up their first points with a win at home against Dutch champions Ajax.

There are no doubts that Barcelona are the team to beat in Group H and AC Milan will become the next team to try and stop the La Liga champions from entering the verge of qualification.

Barcelona currently leads the group by two points after impressively defeating Ajax 4-1 and overcoming Celtic 0-1 in their last fixture.

With the international break over, several of Barcelona’s leading players have recovered from injuries that beset them at the start of the month with Lionel Messi being the most welcomed addition to their lineup.

Barcelona also have several of their more defensive players back in the squad with both Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano making their way into the squad for the trip to Italy.

Milan have been poor domestically but have showed good form in Europe as they sit two points behind Barcelona having beaten Celtic and drawing with Ajax in the last round.

Massimilliano Allegri’s side will welcome back Kaka to the Champions League for the game and will no doubt be a familiar foe to the Barca squad who often clashed with them during his time at Real Madrid.

There will also be returns for Matias Silvestre and Valter Birsa who provided one of the best goals in Europe this weekend with a stunning goal against Udinese on Saturday afternoon.

Group H’s other tie will see Celtic host Ajax as the two battle to try and keep in touch with the leaders in the bid to advance to the next round.

Celtic has not had the best starts to their campaign having lost to both AC Milan and Barcelona in their opening two group games.

The SPL champions will be without midfielder Scott Brown for the clash having picked up a three-match ban from UEFA for kicking Neymar in the 1-0 loss to Barcleona last time out.

Ajax haven’t had much luck in the group either picking up a single point against AC Milan in Holland last time out after being thumped 4-1 by Barcelona in the opening game.

Ajax are without any new injuries ahead of the tie but will be hoping to improve on the form that has only seen them climb to third in Eredivisie behind FC Twente and PSV Eindhoven.

With Barcelona and AC Milan facing of, the winner will be almost guaranteed qualification to the next round as both Ajax and Celtic try to hang on to the leaders in the group.
