AC Milan chasing Man City striker Dzeko

Edin Dzeko could leave Manchester City this summer with AC Milan reportedly lining up a £20 million deal for the striker according to the Mirror.

The Rossoneri are on the hunt for a new forward and are said to have enquired about the Bosnian international who’s fallen down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

Roberto Mancini wants to sign Arsenal’s Robin Van Persie before the new season starts and is prepared to sacrifice Dzeko in order to make room for the Dutchman.

It’s understood that officials from the Premier League Champions have met with the Italian club to discuss the 26-year-old and are reportedly close to agreeing a deal.

Dzeko is open to leaving City after failing to hit the heights expected of him since his £28 million move from German side Werder Bremen 18-months ago and is now behind Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez.

Bayern Munich are also thought to be interested in bringing him back to the Bundesliga but the striker is keen on the idea of a fresh start in Serie A and will push for a switch to the San Siro.

Meanwhile, Mancini’s pursuit of Van Persie was given a boost after Paris Saint Germain ruled themselves out of the race for the 28-year-old who is set to leave the Emirates Stadium.

PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed he’s withdrawn himself from the race to secure the Holland international’s signature leaving Juventus and City to fight it out.

Ancelotti said: “Van Persie is not a target of ours, but I think he is for others.”

Mancini wants to ship out Dzeko and Emmanuel Adebayor, who is on the verge of a move to Tottenham Hotspur, to free up funds on the wage bill as the club prepare to make Van Persie a stunning offer of £225,000-per-week.
