Reports from Northern Italy have suggested that AC Milan remain keen on Arsenal striker Robin van Persie. The forward has been in terrific form this season when fit and the Italian giants see the 27 year old as a possible answer to their European aspirations next season after seeing it cut short by Tottenham Hotspur this month.
The news of this interest is not new with Milan first reported to be planning a bid in 2009 which was quickly thwarted by the Arsenal board after offering van Persie a new contract.
The Netherlands international has made his intentions clear that he would like to stay at the Emirates stadium for the forseeable future however a lack of trophies in five seasons will not hold much weight, especially if Arsenal become unstuck yet again in the Premiership this season.
The bid – thought to be from £18m to £25m – if forthcoming, may tempt Arsene Wenger as he looks to rebuild his team after yet another season which has seen van Persie spend more time on the treatment table than on it and statistics show that you do not win trophies with your best players constantly injured.
