Anfield enforcer hoping to repeat Liverpool form in September

Liverpool defensive midfielder, Lucas Leiva, has revealed his delight at Liverpool’s early season performances, and hopes the club can repeat Augusts’ success in September.

The Merseysiders have snatched seven points from a possible nine so far, including an away win against Arsenal and an emphatic victory over Bolton Wanderers.

The Reds’ next task will be overcoming Tony Pulis’ Stoke City with a trip to the Brittania Stadium.

Speaking to the Official Liverpool Website, the Brazilian said: “We know we have two away games now and it’s really important to get points in the away games. It always makes a big difference at the end of the season.”

The enforcer is confident though, adding: “We know how difficult it is to play against Stoke, especially on their own ground. They have a physical game and big players, and their set pieces are always really difficult to defend. We have to go there ready to fight, try to play football and win.”
