Argentina playmaker giving little away regarding Manchester United interest

It is unclear whether Sir Alex Ferguson will make a move for GaitanThe apparent midfield target of Manchester United, Nicolas Gaitan, has given little away regarding any firm interest in his services by admitting that he is very content at current club Benfica.

The sides met on Tuesday evening meaning Manchester United are yet to qualify for the Champions League knock-out stages, with Gaitan prooving to be a menace throughout the two ties. The 23 year old has six international caps for Argentina and has been at Benfica since moving in 2010 from his homeside Boca Juniors.

With Manchester United reportedly interested in the playmaker, many feel that it is a key position that requires filling, especially after Paul Scholes’ departure at the end of last season. For the time being though Gaitan claims his future is in Portugal.

“Manchester? I am very content for the moment at Benfica, I am very happy to be here with a team that is fighting to win important titles. About my future, I will only say that I have signed a deal with Benfica and nobody has told me that things will change. For now I will be staying with Benfica.”

Although a move in January is unlikely, the summer will be a time when Manchester United will possibly consider a bid for the playmaker.
