Arsenal admit to injury risk of new signing

Arsene Wenger has taken a big risk by signing Yossi Benayoun, after it was revealed that the North London club signed the former Liverpool and Chelsea man without him undergoing a medical.

The Israeli international signed for the Gunners in the dying hours of the summer transfer window, and will remain with the club on loan until July 2012.

The deal took place so close to the deadline in fact, that Benayoun didn’t have time for a medical, and completed all necessary paperwork without running the usual tests involved in a transfer.

The gamble is even larger when you take into account that the 31 year-old missed a huge portion of last season with an Achilles injury.

Only time will tell whether the move will prove profitable for both parties or not, but the midfielder is in line to make his debut against Swansea on Saturday.
