Arsenal and Chelsea look set to go head to head for Lille’s Eden Hazard with the player possibly becoming the subject of a bidding war between the two London clubs.
Arsenal are looking to add some quality as soon as possible and see Hazard as pivotal to the long term future of the club and have been monitoring his progress for quite some time. Whilst Lille have slapped a £26m price tag on the Belgian 20 year old it is believed a fee close to £20m could be accepted.
Chelsea are also keen on the youngster having been told by Real Madrid that primary wing target Angle Di Maria is not for sale this summer and Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas wants to add some width this summer with only two weeks remaining.
Whilst Chelsea are perhaps in a position to outmuscle Arsenal with regards to a transfer fee, Arsenal’s long term admiration for the player should hold the North London club in good stead and with the Cesc Fabregas money available should be able to make a bid that Lille will consider seriously.
