Arsenal and Liverpool are both keen on landing former England international, and current West Ham loanee, Wayne Bridge. The 30 year old was loaned out by Manchester City at the beginning of the year and whilst the East London club would really like to keep him, it is unlikely that the left back will take 50% pay cut to make it happen.
This has put Liverpool and Arsenal on alert who are both in the market for a left back. For the Merseyside club it is a case of finding someone suitable to fill the void that has remained a dark area for some time, Johnson has filled the role well, but it is believed that Liverpool want more experience in that position.
Arsenal on the other hand are keen to find a replacement for Gael Clichy, who’s contract comes to an end in the summer and is being strongly linked with a move away from the club.
At 30 years old Bridge does not fall into a “young but improving” bracket and it would certainly only be a two or three season solution for either club, however with youngsters such as Kieran Gibbs and Jack Robinson of Arsenal and Liverpool respectively coming through the ranks, a summer tussle between the two clubs for the experienced left back could be a distinct possibility.
