Arsenal and Manchester United to lose out on goalkeeping target

It looks certain that Manuel neuer will be joining Bayern MunichNewspaper reports in Germany have claimed that goalkeeping target of Manchester United and Arsenal, Manuel Neuer, will lose out to Bayern Munich on a pre-deal in the next three weeks.

The current Schalke Number One has impressed most notably over the last twelve months leading to speculation that he may be on the verge of signing for a top Premiership club. However reports this weekend suggest he will be signing a pre-deal with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich after Schalke’s second leg Champions League fixture at Old Trafford.

Should Neuer have been a realistic target of either Premiership clubs then they will probably need to look elsewhere with Arsenal and United also linked with Holland international Maarten Stekelenburg, and for the Gunners in particular, British keepers Ben Foster and Shay Given.

Whilst Schalke’s 25 year old goalkeeper has not enjoyed the best of times in the league – Schalke 04 are currently 10th and have only just hit the 40 point mark – Neuer has been in good Champions League form and is at that age which seems to attract a lot of interest these days.
