Arsenal Aston Villa Odds : Gunners looking to consolidate Premiership third as Wenger finds new lease of life

Arsenal go in search of their seventh straight win when they welcome Aston Villa to the Emirates on Saturday, as they look a cracking bet at short odds to add to your accumulator as a home win.

The Gunners’ impressive revival has now seen them overtake their North London rivals, Tottenham, in the Premier League table, and with nine games remaining, their most optimistic supporters will really be beginning to wonder how far they can go.

In truth, it seems inevitable that Arsene Wenger’s men are going to go another season without silverware this time around, but after a dismal start to the campaign, the green shoots of recovery are really beginning to appear as we move into the spring months.

Their 1-0 win against Everton in midweek was nothing if not hard fought. It is a sure sign of the increased mental strength that has developed amongst the Arsenal ranks as the campaign has worn on.

Indeed, that victory was also a sign that whilst he is still the Premier League’s leading scorer, they are no longer solely dependent upon the goals of Robin Van Persie.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, began this season poorly by their standards, and have continued more or less in the same vein all campaign.

They find themselves languishing all the way down in 15th, knowing that despite there only being nine games of the season remaining, they are by no mean safe from relegation just yet.

Indeed, their fans may well be fearful of being dragged into a real dog-fight if they are unable to take anything away with them from the Emirates this weekend.

They will, however, take heart from the fact they managed to beat Fulham 1-0 last weekend, having only managed draws against Wigan and Blackburn before that.

These two sides have already met twice this season, with Arsenal coming out on top on both occasions. Their 2-1 Premier League win back in December was followed up by an entertaining 3-2 win in the FA Cup towards the end of January.

This one gets underway at 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
