Arsenal boss Wenger expects to be tested against Blackburn

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has admitted that despite Blackburn’s poor start to the season, he is expecting to be thoroughly tested at Ewood Park today.

However, he has warned his Arsenal team not to expect the typical Blackburn of old, but a more technically aware and attack minded performance:

“I’m not sure that Blackburn is the team now that goes for high balls,” he said. “It’s more Stoke where you get this kind of typical old-fashioned English test.”

He continued:

“Blackburn have gone more different but it’s a big test for us. It’s a massive test for us”

He added that he hopes his players will be fresh and ready for the challenge after Tuesday’s trip to Germany for the 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund:

“First of all you know if you want to play a good role in the Premier League, the way you go from the Champions League to the Premier League is important. And playing away from home after a Champions League game is vital as well.”
