Arsenal are in the final few stages of signing Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba and should be in a position to announce his arrival officially within the next few weeks according to Footybunker.com sources.
The center-back had admitted being close to a move last January only for the deal to fall through at the latter stages. However, renewed interest from Arsenal and the player admitting to Rovers hierarchy that he wishes to join the North London outfit has meant he will soon be swapping the blue and white of the Lancashire side for the red of North London’s Arsenal.
Sources claim that both Arsenal, Rovers, player and agent are in talks regarding a move although no initial transfer fee has been offered or accepted. Samba signed a new Blackburn deal recently and this is thought to be the reasons behind the delay. Once the finer details of an offer are completed the only thing that shall remain is the medical with the 27 year old apparently already happy with the personal terms the Gunners are set to offer.
The signing of Samba will represent Arsene Wenger’s first major first team signing this summer and although transfer figures are sketchy, an estimated value of £6m-£8m is believed to be acceptable for the Lancashire side. For Blackburn it will represent their second defender to have left this month after selling Phil Jones to Manchester United earlier in June for a reported £16m.
