Arsenal are believed to be considering an approach for England international and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe who has found it tough going at White Hart Lane recently picking up only numerous starting appearances and normally only coming on as a substitute.
The striker who is available at the right price comes with a decent scoring record and almost 50 caps to his name and it is rumoured that the Emirates side are looking for an experienced striker to compliment Arsenal captain Robin van Persie in attack.
Defoe valuation is currently between £7m-£9m and his age – Defoe turned 29 last month – will mean that certain sides will not want to invest in the Spurs forward leaving the path clear for Arsenal should they consider the striker to be a serious option.
Defoe joined Tottenham Hotspur from West Ham United in 2004 before spending a season with Harry Redknapp whilst he was in charge of Portsmouth. Redknapp decided to take Defoe with him when he was given the task of managing the North London side in 2009.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker may not be everyone’s first choice with regards to a forward who can get you goals and will certainly not be brought with a view to the long term future of the club however as someone who will be able “help out” in an area that does require strengthening, Defoe would not be a bad move at all for Arsene Wenger’s side.
