Manchester United aren’t the only side to be showing an interest in CSKA Moscow star, Alan Dzagoev, with Arsenal reportedly preparing a bid for the youngster.
The 21 year-old has earned considerable plaudits over recent seasons leading many, including current Arsenal attacker Andrey Arshavin, to label the starlet as one of the promising players in Russian football.
The Gunners were being linked with the Russian international months ago and are said to have sent a scouting team to run the rule over the playmaker.
Despite his age, Dzagoev has racked up nearly 150 appearances playing for CSKA Moscow and is now a prominent feature in the Russian national team, having made his debut in 2008.
Arsene Wenger has ample reason to go in for the attacking midfielder having lost the talismanic duo of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri over the summer.
The North London outfit may have signed Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun as replacements but are understandably looking for something more in their creative efforts and see Dzagoev as the ammunition to give just that.
The inspiring for of the irrepressible Robin van Persie has been absolutely key to Arsenal’s season so far and one could argue that with stronger supply, the Dutchman may have accumulated even more than his current 18 goal tally for the season.
Dzagoev is being monitored by Manchester United, who are in the market for a playmaking talent of their own, however Wenger will be looking to pip their rivals to the creative star’s signature with a £15m move in his sights.
