Arsenal facing nervous wait on Walcott scan

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is facing a nervous couple of days as he waits to see the extent of the injury picked up by Theo Walcott during the 3-0 win against Bolton yesterday.

The pacey winger pulled up with what was originally suspected to be a hamstring injury towards the end of the game; however the England international actually turned out to have sustained what looks like a knee injury.

Wenger admitted he did not know how serious the injury was, but he will no doubt have his fingers crossed for a quick recovery as Arsenal head into a week in which they face Olympiacos in the Champions League before heading to Spurs for the North London derby.

“We don’t really know the extent of it,” admitted Wenger.

“It looked like a classic hamstring injury when Theo went down but he said he had a sharp pain in his knee.”

The Frenchman revealed Walcott will have a scan to reveal the extent of the injury:

“He’ll need a scan so we can assess what kind of damage it is.”
