Arsenal holding talks with international giant
It’s understood that Arsenal are in the advanced stages of talks with Werder Bremen’s star defender, Per Mertesacker.
The Gunners manager, Arsene Wenger, is desperate to sign defensive reinforcements after an 8-2 battering at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Werder Bremen captain stated last week that he would not be leaving the Bundesliga side, however the deal now looks to be back on as the two clubs near a deal.
The North London club are also being linked with Chelsea centre-back, Alex, but fall short of the Blues’ £10m valuation, willing only to pay £7m for the Brazilian.
