Arsenal increase interest in Ligue 1 prodigy

Arsenal have increased their interest in NiangReports are suggesting that Arsenal will be upping their surveillance of Caen striker, M’Baye Niang, ahead of rumours of a January bid.

The Frenchman has drawn huge praise this year following his performances in Ligue 1, earning some to call him the ‘best player Caen has ever produced’ and ‘Ligue 1s most promising youngster’.

Just about every European club are being associated with Niang, but with Arsenal having such strong links to the French league, any rumours tend to carry some serious weight.

The youngster started playing for the Caen youth academy as a 13 year-old, rapidly ascending through the ranks with the club before making the leap to the senior side this year.

Now 16, Niang suits the usual buying strategy of Arsene Wenger who prefers to buy his players young and proceeding to groom them as he sees fit.

Robin van Persie and Gervinho are currently sharing striking duties at the Emirates Stadium, with the former taking the huge majority of the responsibility.

Niang is a teenager for the future who is already showing promise in a top division, and could be ready to make the jump to the Premier League.
