The information has emerged that Arsenal will not play Samir Nasri in Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Udinese, further fuelling speculation that he may complete his move to Manchester City.
If the Frenchman had played, a move away from the club would have become less likely, as he would then be cup-tied for any club he may move to.
Nasri has been linked with a move away from the Gunners all summer, and is now expected to tie up a £22m transfer to Manchester City.
It’s believed that the 24 year-old is very keen on a transfer to City, and with only a year to run on his contract, Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is believed to see it as bad business if they were to lose the midfielder on a Bosman free, next summer.
The North London side face a tough test in Italy with injuries to Jack Wilshere and Laurent Koscielny, the omission of Nasri will only lessen their chances of European progression.
