Sources in North London have confirmed that Arsenal are lining up moves for three current Premiership players as they look to give their squad a boost for a fresh Premier League campaign next season.
Christopher Samba of Blackburn is the main defensive target and the 27 year old centre-back has already admitted that a move in January did not materialise, although it is probable a move will happen this summer.
Scott Parker is the next player on the Arsenal wish list with the 30 year old midfielder having lost the fight to remain in the Premiership with West Ham and with the East London club now likely to sell. Whilst Wenger is not famous for acquiring players of his age it seems the Emirates side are keen to land some experience in that area and a bid of around £7m is believed to be ready to be made very shortly.
Newcastle United’s Cheik Tioté is the next apparent target to be added to the line up with a bid believed to be around £12m due to the 24 year old Ivorian having just signed a long six and a half year contract extension at St. James Park. With Denilson having just stated he will be leaving the Emirates, an extra position within the squad has now become available.
Whilst the acquisition of all three remains unlikely it certainly seems as though Arsene Wenger feels the need for some major additions this summer and as soon as possible to prepare for what will be Arsenal’s most important season for some time. Six years without a trophy, seven however will mean some very big questions asked and some big heads possibly rolling out of the Emirates.
