Rumours are circulating that Arsenal are preparing to make a bid for the former Manchester United, and current Birmingham City number one, Ben Foster.
The 28 year old is held in high regard by many in managerial positions and speculation is rife regarding a Premiership switch to the North London club as Wenger seeks to steady the defensive triangle. Foster’s performances this season have been of a very high standard and is believed to be in the top four keepers consisting also of Joe Hart, Petr Cech and Manchester United’s Edwin van der Sar this campaign.
With Birmingham City currently in what could be called a danger zone where relegation is concerned, the St Andrews club will look to sell numerous players if they find themselves in the Championship next season.
Should Arsene Wenger be looking to add some “Britishness” to his back five then Foster could be available at a price if McLeish decides on making a profit on the reported £4m paid for him in 2010. Should relegation hit Birmingham City then it is highly likely that Foster will want to remain in the Premiership. Should Birmingham survive then Mr Wenger will have to look elsewhere surely.
