Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that he “expects” new additions to join the side by the end of the transfer window on 31st August but that he also believes that the return of so many injured players will have an impact too.
Arsenal made the Champions League group stages on Wednesday evening defeating Serie A side Udinese 3-1 on aggregate and the 61 year old manager also claims that progressing to that important stage will have a baring on who the club can acquire this summer.
Talking to Skysports Wenger said:
“Yes, of course. We want to play at the top and all of the big players want to play at the top.It is a little bit easier, but it is not easy to find players of the calibre that we have lost. I believe that we have top players still coming through our club, and we have shown that again tonight.”
Asked if he would be bringing in new players prior to the deadline Wenger responded:
“I expect to, of course, but at the moment I am very happy if we get Diaby back in midfield and a few others that are out. We have too many players missing, but you will see that we have a very good squad.”
