Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists he would like to be at the helm of Arsenal Football Club for a further fourteen years having already spent fourteen in North London and claims that he will take the criticism as he does when he receives praise.
Arsenal went back on track on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 win over Shrewsbury Town in the Carling Cup and when asked if he was feeling any pressure the 61 year old manager replied:
“I am not bothered at all by this speculation. I have had 14 years at this club and kept them 14 years in the Champions League. I hope it lasts another 14. I can understand people are unhappy and criticise. But, you know as well as I, that people are very quick to go overboard.”
The Arsenal manager continued:
“When we do well we take all the plaudits, so we have to take all the blame when it doesn’t go as well – but we have, on both sides, to take some distance. When it goes well we must not completely believe what people say – and when it does not go as well, we must not completely believe it.”
