Arsenal manager “very worried” over new injury

Sagna's injury could be very seriousArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted his concern over Bacary Sagna’s injury that cam in the recent defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

The defender appeared to have been pushed by Spurs defender Beniot Assou-Ekotto early in the second half with the 28 year old eventually being taken off on a stretcher. Whilst Wenger admits there is no news at the moment he confirms that it may be serious with Sagna currently in hospital with more news likely to filter through throughout Monday.

“We are very worried about his injury, he is in hospital at the moment and it is too early to say but the first signs do not look good at all. It is the fibula in the ankle that has to be checked, that is what I have been told. We will know tonight.

The Arsenal manager continued:

“I think he was pushed quite hard by Assou-Ekotto and I’m not sure what happened to him. He might have landed the wrong way, I don’t know. I will have to see it again. Straight away he wanted to be substituted.”

Losing to your neighbours is always bad news but Arsenal will be hoping it stops there where Sagna is concerned with the defender arguably one of the clubs most experienced players.
