Arsenal manager Wenger insists title race is far from over

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that the Premier League title race is far from a foregone conclusion, saying that his Arsenal side can still catch Manchester United.

The Gunners have had a terrible start to this season, with defeats against United and Blackburn particular sore points as they made their worst ever start to a season under Wenger.

However, whilst admitting he was worried by his team’s poor start Wenger insisted that United do not have an unassailable lead, despite being eleven points ahead after winning all of their games so far this season.

“Of course I am worried. It is absolutely not realistic not to be worried when you have a team like Manchester United in front of you.” said the Arsenal boss.

He continued:

“If the team gets momentum, we can be very strong,”

“The only thing we can do is focus on our performances, win our games and hope they will drop some points at some stage,”

The Frenchman added that he thought it a little early in the season to be placing a trophy in one club’s hands:

“What is important for us is to give absolutely everything to do it (win the title), but at the moment it is too early to speak about that,”

Arsenal face a similarly struggling Bolton side today, with Arsenal fans looking for a response from their team.
