Arsenal midfielder out for a further three weeks

Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby will be out for at least a further three weeksArsenal midfielder Abou Diaby has had to deal with the news that he could be out for a further three weeks despite his surgery on his ankle and it has now emerged that the 25 year old has a hamstring injury.

Diaby was initially due back to action this month but the hamstring injury means a return in December seems more likely. For Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger though the concern is not as tough as it had been during pre-season when Diaby went under the knife and although worried, Wenger believes the international break should work for them.

“You won’t see him for a while, the next three weeks, he will not play for France either. I am worried but I was more worried three months ago. His ankle was not good but the surgery went very well then.”

The Arsenal manager continued:

“Now his balance has changed so he has to adjust his muscular strength. He has had two small muscular concerns and if he can get rid of them in the next two to three weeks he will be ready. It’s a good time to get him right as we have a two-week break after Saturday.”

The setback means Diaby is unlikely to feature for the first eleven until at least their away fixture against Wigan Athletic at the begining of December.
