Alex Song has been handed a three-match ban after accepting a charge of violent conduct that occurred in Saturday’s match against Newcastle.
The charge was given to the Cameroonian after Song stamped on the leg of Newcastle United midfielder, Joey Barton.
Referee, Peter Walton, didn’t see the incident personally, however after reviewing video footage, the Football Association has decided to take action.
The FA statement read: “Arsenal’s Alex Song will begin a three match suspension with immediate effect after he accepted a charge of violent conduct.”
The charge means Song, along with Gervinho, who was handed a red card for raising hands to Barton, will miss the Gunners’ next three games against Liverpool, Manchester United and Swansea.
