Arsenal playmaker Mikel Arteta has insisted that the squad have been working on becoming more solid as a side over the last few months and that the hard work looks to be paying off.
A turnaround of good fortunes for the club appears to have come along the hard way however four win from their last four Premiership matches, including a 5-3 victory at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea – has moved the North London club to seventh in the table.
Arteta also admits that getting clean sheets once against is important as they look to break into the top four before Christmas.
“We have been trying to get everything tight and be more solid, I like to get forward, have freedom and I like to score goals. I want to participate more on the attacking side so I did that and I’m pleased. But now we are on a run, we are keeping it together and getting clean sheets. That’s important.”
The former Everton midfielder continued:
“I am pleased that we won. We have a break now and it leaves you with a really bad sensation if you don’t win before one of those. We have 15 days to work with the players and we need to come back very strong.”
The Arsenal playmaker added:
“We have to win every game because we are catching up and it is not one or two clubs (trying to win the title) like the old days. We know we have the talent and the desire in our team to get better.”
There is now a two week gap for international fixtures but when the Arsenal players return they will have to face both Norwich City and Fulham in the Premier League whilst also facing Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and Manchester City in the Carling Cup.
