Arsene Wenger will move to replace Alex Song in the final week of the transfer window with a bid for Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye. The French international has won a legion of admirers since arriving on Tyneside from Lille last summer forging an excellent partnership with Cheick Tiote – another player reportedly on Wenger’s hitlist. Carroll still on Newcastle radar – Alan Pardew admits Andy Carroll would add a ‘nice dimension’ to his squad as speculation gathers that Newcastle will make a final £17million to bring the striker back to the North East. The 23-year-old has been linked with a switch back to his old club for a majority of the summer with he Magpies having a loan bid rejected. Spurs fail with Isco bid – Tottenham have had an £8 million bid rejected by Malaga for midfield star Isco as Andre Villas-Boas steps up his search for Luka Modric’s replacement. With the Croatian close to finalising his switch to the La Liga champions Spurs want the Spain Under-21 international although Malaga are unwilling to sell him despite it being a signifant profit on the £4.7m they paid Valencia last summer. Prem duo eye Doyle swoop – Aston Villa and Everton are chasing Wolves striker Kevin Doyle as they aim to boost their respective attacks before the transfer window closes. Despite signing Greek forward Kevin Miralles last week Toffees boss David Moyes is still in the hunt for a new front man. Wigan want Bolton star – Lee Chung-Yong is reportedly a target for Wigan Athletic as they hunt a replacement for Victor Moses following his move to Chelsea last week. The South Korean midfielder spent last season on the sidelines as he battled back from a broken leg but Roberto Martinez believes he is the ideal player to fill the void left by Moses and will approach the Championship side with a £7 million bid.
