Arsenal are believed to have pulled out of the running to loan Manchester City left-back Wayne Bridge due to the fact that City would want another club to pay his full wages rather than just a percentage.
Although the news may be music to some of the fans’ ears, the left-back position appears to be one that Wenger is still looking to fill on a short term basis but they are not prepared to pay over the odds where wages are concerned for someone to play a bit-part role for just two months.
Wenger has always been shrewd with the clubs money and certainly no major changes need to be made in that area with Santos and Gibbs fighting for the position. Despite injuries both players are on the mend but Gibbs’ attraction to the treatment table has had certain groups claiming he should be sold and someone more consistent be brought in.
With the Bridge deal currently moribund the club are believed to be still looking at alternatives but there is no news as to whether Wenger will look to switch to something permanent rather than a simple loan deal.
