Arsenal are reconsidering an approach for Lyon left back Aly Cissokho after sources reported that Wnger may not be fully happy with the players available for that position.
Wenger recently suggested that he had plenty of cover in that area with the likes of Kieran Gibbs, Armand Traore and Thomas Vermaelen available however the 61 year old feels Vermaelen is better suited as a central defender whilst Traore and Gibbs are yet to prove themselves in that position long term.
Tempting Lyon to sell Cissokho will not be easy and it is believed Arsenal would like the French side to drop their asking price slightly from £15m. A £12m could be forthcoming but a lot will depend on Arsenal’s quest for Everton centre-back Phil Jagielka which has stalled over the last week.
