After being issued a hands-off statement in the summer, Arsenal are refusing to give up on the possible capture of Rennes midfielder, Yann M’Vila.
The holding midfielder became subject of persistent Gunners attention in August as the North London side sought to add some brute force to their weak-looking midfield.
The departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri didn’t help the Gunners cause at all and despite sealing deadline day transfers for Mikel Arteta and Yossi Benayoun, their midfield still seems to be coming up short in their hunt for a top four spot.
Alex Song is an adequate anchorman in the middle of the Arsenal side but youngsters Francis Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong seem to be a shade short of the experience required to make Arsene Wenger’s starting XI.
M’Vila has admitted since the closing of the summer window that he would be willing to leave Rennes in the near future but the Ligue 1 side remain reluctant to let go of their star.
Rumours say that the French international will leave Rennes in the summer, however Arsene Wenger is desperate to make sure that isn’t so by signing the 21 year-old this month.
The Frenchman has accumulated over 100 appearances for the Ligue 1 side and currently boasts a valuation of £18m.
Stan Kroenke stated in the summer months that he was willing to inject serious funds into his side if they were to improve and he’ll certainly have to break normal spending policy to capture this particular youngster.
